Romanian books presented at the Book Expo America

For the first time, Romania will have a book stand at Book Expo America (BEA) in New York, as well as several events organized by the Romanian Cultural Institute. BEA gathers annually over 1,000 exhibitors and over 800,000 visitors.

The main theme of this edition for Romanian stand will be the translations, with debates and simulations of translations, as well as discussions about the translators’ experiences and a presentation of Romanian authors’ volumes in English language. Writers Alistaire Ian Blyth, Sean Cotter, Adrian Sahlean, Jill Schoolman, Kendall Storey, Varujan Vosganian and others are invited to the Romanian stand to talk about books, while Bogdan Popescu, the director of the National Book Center of ICR will be also present.

At the end of BEA 2014, ICR New York will host a retrospective event presenting portraits of Romanian contemporary writers and recently published Romanian books. The exhibition will be itinerated at Queens Public Library, New York. Meanwhile, at ICR can be seen the exhibition entitled “Eugen Ionescu – portraits”.

Also, Romania will offer the Washington Congress Library a series of Romanian books, such as the full edition of “Manuscripts of Mihai Eminescu” edition edited by Acad. Eugen Simion, under the auspices of the RomanianAcademy.
