Romanian average net salary rose 6.7% to 1,760 lei (EUR370.3) in December, from RON1,650 a month earlier, largely boosted by one-time bonuses, the statistics institute INS said Thursday.
“In the month of December 213, most activities in the economic sector registered a rise in the average net salary compared to November 2013 as a result of granting one-time bonuses (granted for the holiday, end of the year and performance), net profit sums and other funds (meal tickets and gift certificats) or as a result of higher income (depending on the contract. The rise in salary was also influenced by certain economical activities and lay-offs of employees with smaller salaries”, INS showed in its press release.
The biggest increases in average net salaries were registered in:
– oil industry – 26.7%
– pharma – 21%
– electronic manufacturing – 23.5%
– naval transport, oil and natural gas extraction, paper production (18 to 19.5%)
– metallurgic industry, energy supply, real estate, insurance, pension funds, tobacco industry (between 15 and 18%).
Salary decreases, caused by granting bonuses in the previous months or failing to complete the production roster were registered in
– air flight industry – 3%
– leather industry – 0.5%
