Cezar Ouatu, Romania’s representative to Eurovision 2013, qualified for the final of the competition with the song “It’s my life”, after having performed last night, in the second semi-final of the music contest, organised at Malmo, in Sweden.

At this edition of the music contest, Romania was the fourth country announced as finalist, but the order of the countries qualified was random.

The great final will be held on Saturday evening, and the winner will be named based on the vote of the public and of the jury, with a 50 percent contribution each to the final decision.

Sweden, Germany, UK, France, Italy and Spain are directly qualified for the final.

After the contest, Ouatu said in the press conference that “I am already happy because I am a winner – I’m in the final. It’s the first time a countertenor is in the final of Eurovision. The voice is the most important sovereign, and I try to be even better on Saturday. Thanks to everyone who voted for me – I cried for half an hour after the results were announced. I’m too sensitive. I’m really proud to represent my country, and all opera singers.”

Romania’s best performances in the Eurovision competition were two third places, one in 2010, obtained by Paula Seling and Ovi, with the song “Playing with fire”, and one in 2005, obtained by Luminita Anghel and Sistem, with “Let Me Try”, and a fourth place in the ranking, in 2006, taken by Mihai Traistariu, with “Tornero”.

Last year, Mandinga band represented Romania in the final of the competition and was ranked 12th, with the song “Zaleilah”.
