“We haven’t brought much value to the Romanian economy; not because we didn’t want to, but because we couldn’t,” said on Thursday Vladimir Oane (photo), Product Manager with Hootsuite Media Inc. at the SMEs HOW TO 2015 event organized by Business Review.
He explained that the uberVU team couldn’t find marketing and sales people or people able to close deals with renowned companies such as Facebook. “This is why we set up a company based in the US,” added Oane. He also explained that because of the terrible legislation in terms of business angels or intellectual property, it’s very difficult to bring specialists from abroad, for instance from the UK or from the US.
Regarding the success uberVu saw, its founder Vladimir Oane said that olympics of Informatics are not necessarily those to create successful companies. “Us, the creators of uberVU, we were mediocre at Informatics.”
Oane underscored that in technology, almost all acquisitions are acquisitions that lose money. “A company should not be created with the aim of selling it afterwards, this often leads to failure,” he said, adding that uberVU never aimed to be purchased by Hootsuite.
Last year, HootSuite acquired uberVU, Romanian leading innovator in social analytics. uberVU’s product is a next-generation social analytics solution that turns data from blogs, forums and social networks into actionable business insights.
For the third year in a row, Business Review organized SME’s HOW TO, an event dedicated to providing information for the SMEs sector.
