Recas Winery to increase wine exports by 33 pct in 2013

Romanian wine producer Recas Winery exported approximately 3 million bottles of wine in 2012 to countries such as England and other European markets, the USA, Canada, Japan, Russia and Australia, Ciprian Rosca, sales director at Recas Winery told BR.

Last year Recas wines were available in international retail chains such as Asda Stores, Tesco, Sainsbury, Walmart. Exports are projected grow by another 1 million bottles this year by increasing sales to existing accounts and winning new ones.

The Recas group of companies had a combined turnover of some EUR 20 million last year, which it wants to boost by 15 percent in 2013.

Referring to the evolution of the Romanian wine market in 2013, Rosca says that retail sales will stagnate “especially because of the collapse of the tradition retail while sales made through specialized wine shops and HoReCa will go up, mostly because of the improvement of comsumers’ tastes,” he explained.

And while consumption behavior and preferences can change on a yearly basis, “the direction towards quality wine is clear,” he added.

Recas Winery has three premium brands in its portfolio – Sole, Solo Quinta and Cuvee Uberland – and says it plans to further expand in this direction as it has had the best performance in recent years and will most likely remain on an upward trend. Ever since 2008, premium wines have represented more than 20 percent of the producer’s sales.
