RCS&RDS launches video-on-demand online platorm

Romanian-based telecom operator RCS&RDS will be launching a video-on-demand service called Digi Play, which will work like an online platform. The service will officially be launched in September, according to Mediafax newswire, which quotes market sources.

This move was announced by Valentin Popoviciu, the business development manager of the company, as early as May, wrote Business Review at the time.

Digi Play will work at first as an online film outlet, the majority of them being part of the Digi Film portfolio, the RCS&RDS film channel, but subsequently it will also air documentaries, shows and sports shows.

RCS&RDS also owns an online TV platform called Digi Online, launched in December 2013, as an application available for the smartphone and tablet. Digi Online later became available on the www.digi-online.ro website.

RCS&RDS is one of the most important TV content providers, broadcasting its content across various outlets such as the news channel Digi 24, film channel Digi Film, sports channels Digi Sport, documentary channels Digi Animal World, Digi Life and Digi World. The company also has shares in the music channels Music Channel, H!T Music Channel and UTV.
