Businessmen Radu Georgescu,  founding partner at Gecad Group, Diwaker Singh, partner at Gecad, and Manuel Heilmann, formerly VP and GM of  Digital River’s  MyCommerce division, have become co-founders of Coinzone, a new global payment gateway for Bitcoin and virtual currencies in Europe and emerging countries, according to a pres release.

Romanian enterpreneur Radu Georgescu will be chairman of the board of Coinzone, Heilmann will be the CEO and Singh will serve as member of the board.

Coinzone has operations in the United States and Europe, and a strong presence in Romania via its development department. Recently, Coinzone announced the launch of the website for the new payment platform dedicated to virtual currencies, which precedes the official launch of the new Bitcoin payment gateway.

The Coinzone team worked with top international consultants to design a solution that is compatible with various markets across the globe. The final goal is to come up with a platform that observes current regulations and will serve as a long-term solution for payments with virtual currencies.

“Bitcoin will fundamentally change the way people make payments on markets where traditional payment systems are less developed. Often, small and medium companies in Europe and emerging countries have special needs. Our goal is to answer these specific needs, not just simply processing payments,” says Manuel Heilmann, Coinzone CEO and co-founder.

Before Coinzone, Heilmann, who has 13 years of international experience in eCommerce, was vice-president and general manager of the MyCommerce division of Digital River.

In his LinkedIn profile, Singh appears as chairman of the board of directors at Threesixty Campus, board member at Elefant.ro, board member at Axigen Messaging, board member at GECAD NET, chairman at Heritage Hotels & Resorts and partner at GeCAD Group.

“Virtual currencies, and especially Bitcoin, offer new ways to make payments or transfer money via mobile phone or computer. Since they don’t overlap with traditional payment systems, these solutions are easy to use, are not confined by borders and are accessible to all. We are happy to be involved in developing these technologies that we consider more innovative and modern than most banking products used at the moment,” said Heilmann.
