Radio Guerilla licenses withdrawn

The National Audio-visual Council (CNA) decided on Thursday with seven votes in favor and three against to withdraw the licenses of Radio Guerilla, owned by Realitatea Media, which will attract the closure of the radio channel, announces Mediafax newswire.

The licenses were withdrawn because Realitatea Media intended to sell them in order to obtain revenues to pay off its debts. According to Mihaela Hamza, attorney HM Expert, “Realitatea Media has debts and the reorganization plan stipulated that the payment of debts, including those to the state budget, is made by selling goods from the patrimony and obtaining cash. The sale or cession of the licenses is a way in which Realitatea Media can obtain some revenues. This sale is part of the reorganization plan approved by the judge. The creditors’ session compelled us to proceed to monetizing the rights, including the rights to use the license,” she said, quoted by paginademedia.ro.

On the other hand, Alexandru Jucan, member of the CNA, said the licenses rightfully belong to the state.

Laura Georgescu, president of the CNA, said the institution “will defend the radio anchors from being ripped off, and they will remain with Radio Guerilla. Liviu Mihaniu and Mihai Dobrovolschi will continue to do radio, and they will.”

Radio anchor Mihai Dobrovolschi said the team will take part in the license auction that takes place in 45 days.
