PwC, the professional services firm, announced on Thursday it would expand its presence in the CEE, in bid to tap the growth potential of emerging markets.

The EUR 60 million investment, which is funded by PwC UK, will be rolled out over the next three years to enhance industry and specialist expertise and strengthen its lead in the market.

“As our markets become more sophisticated, our clients are demanding more from us, and we will need to bring more to the table if we want to retain and build on our number one market position. We need to bring broader, deeper and better integrated offerings that address their unique challenges,” said Michael Kubena, CEO PwC CEE.

The company said the funding will focus on growth economies, as well as on industries and services which are likely to drive economic growth in the region, particularly in the larger markets such as Russia and Poland.  PwC will funnel investments towards key sectors including oil and gas, utilities, mining, financial services and the public sector.

“In our more than two decades in Romania, we formed thousands of finance specialists. This latest business alliance between PwC CEE and PwC UK will strengthen our team even further with leading experts across all lines of services and relevant industries, helping us achieve our ambitious growth strategy and become distinctive market leaders”, commented Vasile Iuga (in picture), country managing partner, PwC Romania and managing partner PwC South-Eastern Europe.

PwC CEE consists of 54 offices across 29 countries, employing 280 partners and 7,000 staff. Meanwhile, PwC UK has 874 partners and 17,400 people in 57 offices across the UK, Channel Islands and the Middle East.
