Any attempt to undermine Government activity is an attempt to destabilize the rule of law in Romania, “through legal or less than legal means,” Social Democratic Party (PSD) head Liviu Dragnea said at a press conference today. He also called Romanian President Klaus Iohannis the ‘moral author’ of the violent episodes during Wednesday’s protests.
Dragnea announced that the members of the PSD National Executive Committee gave a vote of confidence to the Government headed by Sorin Grindeanu.
“PSD is a party that won the elections in a correct way, through a massive vote. In this month of governing, the Government enforced its power in a legitimate way, on the basis of the vote received in the Parliament and indirectly based on the citizen vote in the spirit and the letter of the Constitution. The Government and the parties that support continue to be determined to enact both the executive power, as well as the legislative power given by citizens. We believe that any attempt to undermine Government activity is an attempt to undermine rule of law in Romania by means that are more or less legal. It was also a vote of confidence for the Government – the unanimous support for the Government headed by Sorin Grindeanu was reconfirmed,” Dragnea said at the end of the meeting of the PSD National Executive Committee.
Dragnea also said he considers President Klaus Iohannis as the moral author of the violent acts that happened during Wednesday’s protests in Victoria Square.
