The government’s debt support scheme that will see credits restructured will “probably” be introduced on July 1, according to prime-minister Ponta. The official also mentioned the program will be optional for both banks and the people who will benefit from having their loans restructured.

“We will probably introduce the scheme on July 1, as soon as we finish the project we will post it online. It will not be mandatory, it will be optional, for both people and bank”, the PM specified.

Ponta said the project will include all the conditions negotiated with international financial institutions and they will also be left up for public debate.

The prime-minister confirms his estimates from the end of March, when after Ioana Petrescu, Finance Minister, implied the debt-aid scheme might be postponed, Ponta corrected her by saying the program will be implemented this year in July.
