The Radio Hall in Bucharest will host in December several concerts for music lovers, from Christmas carols to performances of special guests known worldwide or Romanian artists from abroad. The show will start on December 7, at 19.00, with the Polish pianist Beata Bilinska who will perform under the wand of Romanian conductor Horia Andreescu.

The concert starts with a piece of Romanian composer Mihai Moldovan, named Scoarte, which won in 1970 the Creation Award of Union’s Composers, then with Richard Strauss – Burleske for piano and orchestra and Rachmaninov – Symphonic dances. On December 8, the Polish pianist will perform works by Frederic Chopin: the Ballad No 1 in G minor, Tarantelle in A-flat, Op. 43, pieces by the Polish composer Karol Szymanowski and also Serghei Rachmaninov.

Beata Bilinska graduated in 1996 from the Karol Szymanowski Music Academy in Katowice, where she is now an Associate Professor. Studying at Berlin’s Hochschule der Kuenste she took master classes with such pianists as Lee Kum Sing and John Perry. She has performed throughout Europe (winning the 1st Prize and Audience Award in 2002 at the 17th International Piano Competition in Monza, Italy), in Argentina, and in the U.S., making an impressive debut at New York’s Carnegie Hall in October, 2003, of which Harris Goldsmith wrote (in The New York Concert Review): “Ms. Bilinska’s emotionally open and warm-hearted approach came near to producing what I would have thought impossible, the feat of making this sprawling sonata [No.2 in B-flat Minor by Rachmaninov] actually enjoyable!” In December 2005 Bilinska played Penderecki’s piano concerto “Resurrection” with the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra under the baton of the composer.
