Penny Market CEO quits after one year on the job

Christian Beck, who was appointed chief executive officer of Rewe Romania, the owner of the Penny Market and XXL Mega Discount store chains, at the beginning of 2013 has left the company after only one year on the job, writes zf.ro.

The retail chain will be run by a new board that includes Dennis Biernatzki, Daniel Gross and Oliver Eifler. Biernatzki will be in charge of acquisitions, quality assurance and marketing. Daniel Gross will oversee audit, controlling, expansion, financial, human resources, legal and logistics. Lastly, Oliver Eifler will coordinate the sales activity and manage the XXL Mega Discount stores.

Christian Beck previously worked at Auchan Hungary as customer relationship manager, a position he held until the end of 2012. Before that he worked for about 12 years at Cora. His last position there was marketing and acquisitions director for the Hungarian subsidiary.

In 2013, Beck replaced Guenter Becker who was responsible for the Penny retail brand in Romania as well as other three European countries.
