Newsroom 04/05/2015 | 10:23

Cluj-Napoca hosts between 6-9 June, for the second consecutive year, “Techsylvania”, the largest international event on the area of technology and innovation in the region.

The 2015 Edition debuts with a 24 hours hackathon (6th to 7th of June) that addresses a number of over 130 avid, eager programmers to build applications in the field of wearable and connected devices and the internet of things. These devices, the newest in the industry, will be made available to the participants through the partners of the event. At the end of the 24 hours programming marathon and following a session of presentations, 3 winning teams will be validated, which will receive as prizes devices and invitations to present their product at startup accelerators.

The second part of the event is the Conference, which will take place on June 8-9, where the topics will revolve around three main themes: Code (the latest solutions and technical themes), Product (product management, marketing), Funding (financing modalities and types of investments).

After a resounding success the Conference had in 2014, where there were on stage managers from top companies like Twitter, Zynga, Techstars and Telenav, the 2015 Edition includes both Romanian speakers, such as Andrei Dunca (co-founder of LiveRail, a company acquired by Facebook in 2014), Florin Talpes (CEO at Bitdefender) as well as international Jambu Palaniappan (Regional General Manager for Central and Eastern Europe within the giant Uber), Frank Meehan (partner at Spark Global Ventures and former member of the Board of Directors of Siri and Spotify) or Charmaine Li (Senior Editor at Tech.eu). Full list of speakers is currently being finalized and updated can be found on the website of the event.

The event will host over 600 participants, making it a good opportunity for guests from various backgrounds to share useful knowledge, which contribute to the development of the ecosystem and the degree of technological innovation in Cluj-Napoca and Romania.

Techsylvania aims to promote Cluj-Napoca communities as technology centers recognized and confirmed at international level, but also stimulates the development of local products. The event offers the opportunity of social interaction for the purpose of establishing partnerships, seeking financing or obtaining coaching from experts, as well as promoting technical breakthrough ideas from the Romanian developers.

Those interested may purchase tickets priced starting EUR 69 euros, and registrations can be made online on Techsylvania website.
