Othello broadcast live from The Met at The Light Cinema

On October 27, starting 19.55, The Light Cinema offers another HD transmission from the Metropolitan Opera: Verdi’s Othello. The leading role is played by Johan Botha, while Desdemona is interpreted by soprano Renee Fleming, under the wand of the conductor Semyon Bychkov.

Othello is an opera in four acts by Giuseppe Verdi to an Italian libretto by Arrigo Boito, based on Shakespeare’s play Othello. It was Verdi’s penultimate opera, and was first performed at the Teatro alla Scala, Milan, on February 5, 1887. The synopsis of the play can be found here.
