Orange Romania’s revenues in the first half of this year saw a slight decline of 2 percent to EUR 448 million.

Excluding the effect of the axing of interconnection tariffs, the revenues grew by 0.3 percent compared to the same period in 2011, says the company in a press release.

“Our revenues before the reduction of interconnection tariffs took effect were higher than in the first half of 2011, as a result of our commercial initiatives, the sustained investments and the performance of our team,“ said Jean-Francois Fallacher, CEO Orange Romania (in picture).

From the total revenues announced by the company, approximately EUR 228 million were generated in the second quarter, posting a 4 percent growth compared to the first quarter of the year.

At the end of the first half of the year, more than 3.5 million clients used the Orange mobile data services.

Over the past 12 months, the data traffic on smartphones and tablets increased threefold.

At the moment, Orange offers coverage with speeds of 14.4 Mbps of 99.74 percent of the Romanian population, with speeds that can reach 21.6 Mbps in the case of 33.27 percent of the population, and with speeds of 43.2 Mbps for 16.87 percent of the population.
