Klaus Reisenauer, co-founder and shareholder of real estate company Oasis Development, has invested over EUR 1 million in setting up a chain of five stores selling professional hairstyling products for individuals and beauty salons. The business is developed in partnership with Cristina Fleaca, an entrepreneur from Sibiu.

The two began this business in 2009 in Sibiu and until this year they did only wholesale distribution for beauty salons.

The first store was opened this March under the Profihairshop brand and until now another four units were opened. The stores are located in Sibiu (one outlet) and Bucharest. The turnover for the first year of activity is estimated by the company at EUR 1 million.

Reisenauer says that depending on finding the right retail locations, the expansion pace will remain the same in 2013 and the company also considers launching a franchise.

“We benefit from expertise in choosing the retail locations with good traffic and in negotiating the lease contracts. We also have background in retail and most importantly know what consumers want. In addition to this we have also adopted a western-inspired management model which we have studied closely over the past years in order to implement it locally,” said Reisenauer.

He estimates the local market for professional hairstyling products at between EUR 20 million and EUR 30 million with about 14,000 beauty salons at present in the country.

Reisenauer has professional experience in real estate and retail, having worked in Germanybefore returning to Romaniain 2002 and setting up Oasis Development in partnership with Kurt Wagner. The company’s current portfolio exceeds 60 delivered projects, totaling EUR 800 million in investments and developments of over 1.5 million sq m of land, according to company data. The company has also delivered retail spaces for Kaufland, Plus/Lidl, CA Immo AG and Real4You Immobilien GmbH.
