Romanian collector and antiquarian Stefan Grimberg has opened last week a new art gallery in Bucharest, which functions also as an auction house. The estimated auction fund will amount EUR 5 million, including valuable works collectors who entrusted Grimberg Auction House for over 20 years. By the end of the year, the Grimberg auction house is expected to run its first session.
At the moment, the Grimberg Art Gallery held the “Masterpieces of the Romanian painting, between academic and modernism” exhibition, which features Romanian artworks by the likes of Gheorghe Tatarescu, Theodor Aman, Constantin Artachino, Nicolae Vermont, Samuel Mutzner and Nicolae Tonitza.
Stefan Grimberg previously ran a small gallery on Calea Victoriei before moving to the Old Town, in the Hanul cu Tei area and now the gallery is located on 26 Carol I Boulevard, just across the street from Teatrul Foarte Mic.
