National Institute of Statistics: average monthly net salary grew by RON 1 in February

While the average monthly gross salary amounted to RON 2,247 in February, representing a 0.1 percent drop compared to the previous month, the average net monthly salary grew by RON 1, according to the National Institute of Statistics, quoted by Mediafax newswire.

The highest growth in revenues could be seen in the tobacco production, while the lowest in hotels & restaurants, according to the INS.

Thus, in the tobacco production industry, the net average monthly salary was RON 4,648, while in the hotels & restaurants industry, it amounted to RON 957.

The surge in the average net salary compared to January was due to some occasional bonuses- including performance bonuses- sums from other funds or higher production or revenues, depending on the contracts.

In the tobacco production industry, revenues have increased by 32.7 percent, in the basic pharma products industry and water transportation, the revenues increased by 10.5- 12.5 percent.

The drops in the net average salaries could be seen in the extraction of crude oil and natural gas- by 10.6 percent, services related to extraction, storage and transportation- by 4.5- 7 percent, and in the production of other means of transportation (by 4.5- 7 percent), telecom, and others.

“In the public sector, there were slight drops in the net average revenue compared to the previous month: in education, there was a 1.2 percent drop, in the healthcare & social assistance there was a 0.5 percent drop while in the public administration the net average salary was RON 1 lower than in January.
