Lot 3 of Orastie-Sibiu, the only one still needed to complete the highway between the two cities, will be ready on November 15, according to commitments taken by the Italian constructor, Dan Sova, minister of Transport, said on Thursday, quoted by MEDIAFAX.

The official inspected sections belonging to highways Arad-Nadlac, Lugoj-Deva and Orastie-Sibiu.

“15 november is not a date set by me and neither by the Road Authority. It’s a date agreed on by the Arbitration Panel (…) They signed on to finish 16 kilometers of highway unnaffected by mudslides until July and the remaning 6.7 kilometers that were affected by november”, Sova said of the Orastie-Sibiu lot.

Previously, prime-minister Victor Ponta guaranteed that Lot 3 will be finalised this year, and the constructor agreed to finish the work without further financing.

The first segment of the Nadlac-Arad highway in Romania will be completed in January-February 2015, Dan Sova said. The construction of the Nadlac-Arad highway was divided into two sections with a total length of some 39 kilometers.

The Romanian National Company for Motorways and National Roads (CNADNR) wants to complete 93.1 km of highway this year, with a budget of RON 2.65 billion (some EUR 590 million), lower than the year before.
