The miners from Crucea uranium mine in Suceava resumed on Monday the protests suspended in late January, under the accusations that the protocol with the Minister of Economy was not respected, according to Mediafax.
They say their wages were not increased, nor were they allocated more money for the food ratio. Following the discontentment expressed on Monday morning, part of the miners blocked themselves in the undergrounds.
According to sources quoted by Mediafax, the number of protesters stuck underground amounts to over three hundreds, the employees threatening to go on hunger strike.
The miners request the dismissal of the National Uranium Company’s management and of the Suceava branch management and ask PM Victor Ponta, the minister of Energy Andrei Gerea and the social dialogue minister Liviu Pop to come and talk to them.
On January 30, a week after the Crucea miners’ protests, a delegation of the Ministry of Energy, SMEs and Business Environment, headed by minister Andrei Gerea, reached an agreement, the provisions being included in a protocol signed by all parties involved.
Crucea uranium mine employs around 500 miners.
