MedLife bought a majority stake of 55 percent for the SAMA Medical Center and Ultra Test, one of the most important players on the healthcare market in south-western Romania. The two firms are active in Craiova, Ramnicu Valcea, Slatina, Calafat and Balcesti.

SAMA includes two clinics, a physiotherapy center, two occupational health centers, 6 labs and several sampling points. According to MedLife, SAMA is the leader of laboratory services in Oltenia and one of the most important treatment operators in the region. The group posted a turnover of EUR 800,000 in 2014.

“2015 is an important year in the development of MedLife, a time when we will invest EUR 10 million in new openings and/or regional acquisitions. Oltenia is a new market for MedLife, and running operations in this region, through development or acquisition, is an extra step towards our business objective of being present in all the regions”, said Mihai Marcu, president of the board.

MedLife is targeting a turnover of EUR 100 million for 2015 and it announced that it’s planning on going through with several regional acquisitions by year end.

“An important part in our accelerated development for this year will be played by our strategic partner for the last 8 years, IFC – member of World Bank”, Mihai Marcu added.
