Markus Marquardt to run food and beverage department at JW Marriott Bucharest

Markus Marquardt is the new food & beverage director of the five-star JW Marriott hotel in Bucharest, writes HRExpert. Marquadt will supervise the teams of the six restaurants at JW Marriott, JW Steakhouse, Cucina, Champions, Vienna Lounge, Pavilion Lounge and the summer terrace The Garden, and oversee the banqueting and events division.

“We are delighted to have Markus by our side”, according to Igael Porecki, general director for JW Marriott Bucharest. “The F&B director position is one of the key roles for our hotel – the responsibility of handling over 150 people and generate half our revenues rests on his shoulders. I have all the confidence that Markus will integrate rapidly in our team and that he will produce spectacular results”.

Marquardt has 16 years of experience in the industry, having previously worked as sous chef of Panama Marriott Hotel in 1998. In 2006, he joined the Budapest Marriott Hotel, where he was Food & Beverage Director.

“The passion for cooking, for the intensity of restaurant life and for the connections you forge in these environments captured me in childhood: when I was a child, my parents had a restaurant in Bavaria and I used to love to spend as much time as possible there. That is how I fell in love with food, with the harmony of ingredients and the respect for the creative act that is represented in each plate of food. I am delighted about my new mission, it is an extremely big step for me and for my career, being the biggest hotel that I have ever worked in. On a personal level, adapting to a new environment and a new culture, as well as grown the JW Marriott brand are challenges and they entice me. The F&B director positions carries enormous responsibility but I take it one with pleasure. My personal objective is to move quickly through the adjustment phase and, alongside my team, to distinguish ourselves even further on the local scene and to optimize activity for great results”, says Markus Marquardt.
