MAPEI Romania, the local subsidiary of MAPEI Italy, producer of sealants for the construction industry and adhesives for ceramic tiles and natural stone, has announced a turnover of RON 40.01 million (EUR 9 million) for 2014, according to a press release. This was up 9 percent year-on-year.

“By coincidence, our growth pace was almost identical to MAPEI ’s growth figure globally; the group’s turnover rose from EUR 2.1 billion in 2013 to EUR 2.3 billion last year,” said Florin Ciobanu, MAPEI Romania’s CEO.

“The return to growth and profitability were, of course, good news for us, the new management team at MAPEI Romania. […] It is the first time we crossed the RON 40 million barrier. Still, given our position on the local market we reckon that MAPEI Romania should grow faster than the greater MAPEI Group. We are not yet where we should be and posting growth rates well above 10 percent starting this year is one of our commitments,” he added.

Market feedback, the latest operational results and the achievement of intermediary objectives indicate that by year’s end the annual targets may actually be overdone, the MAPEI Romania representative concluded.

Better known for its products in the large projects market – infrastructure and segments such as office, commercial and restoration of historical buildings – MAPEI Romania aims at increasing its presence in the small projects market, DIY included. The company relies on a portfolio containing over 300 products.

Established in Milan, Italy, MAPEI boasts more than EUR 2 billion in annual turnover, 20,000 tons of daily deliveries and annual investments of EUR 115 million in research and development. The group operates 64 production facilities in 31 countries worldwide.

MAPEI was involved in numerous landmark projects worldwide, including but not limited to Charles Bridge in Prague, the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Louvre, Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the Beijing Olympic Stadium or the Rome metropolitan.
