Manpower: Romanian employers optimistic about boosting their headcount

Nearly a quarter of Romanian employers are optimistic about hiring new people in the last quarter of the year, according to the findings of the Manpower Employment Outlook Survey for October- December 2012.

Thus, 23 percent of the employers who were interviewed expect to bring new people to their team, 10 percent estimate there will be personnel layoffs while 65 percent intend to maintain the present team.

The employment outlook has grown by 3 percent compared to both the previous quarter and the similar period last year.

“The employment outlook in Romanian companies is among the most optimistic in the last 4 years, supported by the strong confidence of employers in manufacturing industry and retail. The net employment outlook in Romania is one of the strongest in the EMEA region,” according to Valentin Petrof, general manager of ManpowerGroup Romania.

Employers in the manufacturing industry are most optimistic about hiring new people, with a robust 30 percent employment growth forecast. Wholesale and retail trade are also expected to see newly hired people, with a 21 percent upward trend in employment outlook. These sectors are followed by constructions, where there is a 19 percent employment outlook while public administration and social services are domains with 15 percent potential.

“Employers may not have a clear image of the future challenges but what they can do now is place focus on consolidating the existent labor force and look for new pools of talent to support future business opportunities,” says Petrof.
