Johann Strauss Ensemble Orchestra to return to Romania

For nine years in a row, Johann Strauss Ensemble Orchestra invites Romanian public to a journey in steps of waltz, polka and mazurka, under the magic wand of Russell McGregor, in a tour that will take place between December 12-21.

For this event, Strauss, Lehar, Beethoven, Haydn, Mozart and Schubert will be presented, as well as famous Christmas themes composed by Johann Sebastian Bach, and also known carols interpreted in English, German and Romanian.

Russell McGregor was born in Oxford, England but grew up in Melbourne, Australia where at the age of 7 he began to play the violin and in 1982 received his Diploma of Arts in Music at the Victorian College of the Arts. In 1992 Russell moved to Vienna, Austria and is a member of the Wiener Concertverein, Camerata Salzburg and the Vienna Chamber Orchestra. From 1994 – 1996 he was the Concertmaster at the Vienna Chamber Opera, and since 1997 he has been Concertmaster and Conductor with the Schöbrunn Palace Orchestra.

Russell McGregor is the most well-known (and most famous) conductor in Vienna with his individual Strauss interpretation which is derived from the style of Mozart, which he has developed performing with the Camerata Salzburg. Russell McGregor has performed concerts in the Golden Hall of the famous Musikverein in Vienna and has also performed with Luciano Pavarotti, Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo, Dame Kiri Tekanawa and Ildiko Raimondi.

The national tour of Johann Strauss Ensemble Orchestra will sustain concerts in the following cities: Timisoara (December 12), Arad (December 13), Oradea (December 14), Cluj (December 15), Targu Mures (December 16), Brasov (December 18), Sibiu and Bucharest (December 21). For Bucharest concert, the ticket prices cost between RON 70 – 260. Nationwide, tickets cost between RON 40-150.
