Intesa Sanpaolo Bank completes merger with CR Firenze

Italian Intesa Sanpaolo Group successfully merged its Romanian subsidiares, after Intesa Sanpaolo took over by absorption the assets of CR Firenze Romania, marking the first merger in five years in the Romanian banking sector.

The newly formed lender will handle assets of more than EUR 5 billion (EUR 1.1 billion). Intesa will operate a network of 90 branches and will have around 1,000 employees.

Our Group is among the top players in many markets in Central and Eastern Europe and Romania remains one of the markets with significant growth potential for our bank”, said Ezio Salvai, CEO of Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Romania.

Intesa Sanpaolo operates over 1,500 branches and has 8.3 million customers in 12 countries. Intesa, which is the leading leader in Italy, has an international network of specialists that cater for corporate customers in 29 countries.
