Newsroom 18/09/2014 | 11:24

The first IFEA EUROPE regional conference in Romania is hosted by ArCUB, the official cultural organisation of Bucharest, on the occasion of the celebration of Bucharest’s 555th Anniversary and the opening of the new cultural center in the historic Gabroveni Inn located in the Old Town.

The conference (September 18 – 21) features a Master Class on cultural sponsorship, a special stream focusing on opportunities for cities to be named official EU cultural capitals, and other themes. Delegates shall also have opportunity to explore the cultural life of Bucharest as well as concerts and other festivities on the occasion of the city anniversary celebrations.

“We are extremely pleased to host the IFEA Europe Regional Conference here, in Bucharest, because we were able to observe how this city developed a very strong and creative cultural scene. It grew right in front of our eyes and we want to think that ARCUB, being Bucharest’s Cultural Centre, was a great part of this beautiful blossoming. We also think it’s a given to host the meeting here, because 2014 marks the 555th anniversary of Bucharest and we are ready to open the gates of Gabroveni Inn, as our new headquarterws – a space filled with history and stories that capture the old spirit of our city, but promises to enrich the European capital” – Mihaela Paun, director ArCUB

“We have held IFEA conferences in Europe since 1992, but it will be our first conference in Romania. Our network is about exchange of best practice in events and festivals, and we hope that the conference is attractive to festival organisers, event organisations, city cultural workers, tourism officers, as well as researchers and educators who recognize the value of professional event management to provide the best possible entertainment for, and engagement of, the increasing numbers of cultural audiences. Knowledge of sponsorship, networking, evaluation methods, communication and programming is crucial as competition for attention and attractiveness between events, cities, and countries is growing. I am sure that the programme, as well as the setting on the occasion of the anniversary of Bucharest and the opening of the Gabroveni Inn, will be quite exciting for our delegates” – Allan Xenius Grige, Chairman on IFEA Europe.
