Mediafax, Ringier and ThinkDigital, which run the three largest online media networks in Romania, have announced the intention to launch, in collaboration with TailWind, Project Agora, a programmatic marketplace of premium publishers, based on building specific audiences.

Project Agora will officially be launched this fall.

The three networks represent together over 75 premium websites, with over 450 million monthly views, and a reach of approximately 4 million Romanians per month, according to the most recent audience survey carried out by BRAT via the SATI tool.

The announcement was made by Odysseas Ntotsikas, founder and managing director of TDG, during ICEEfest 2014.

“Local publishers continue to be the smallest little soldier in a fierce war monopolized by international giants. While digital advertising is growing constantly, the share of local players has stagnated or is dropping. The alliances between publishers have flourished all over the world, due to the fact that they can offer the only way in which local media companies can recover their market share and can regain their strategic independence,” said Ntotsikas during the ICEEfest presentation.

Project Agora is owned by TailWind and supported by AppNexus, being a network of publishers in the CEE (Central and Eastern Europe), SEE (South Eastern Europe) and MENA (Middle East and North Africa).

TailWind, part of TDG, proposes to simplify using technology tools the complexity of digital businesses and grow the revenues of publishers, advertisers and media agencies with the help of automatic solutions and based on relevant data.

TailWind has partnered with AppNexus in over 30 countries in the CEE and MEA (Middle East and Africa) and with Sizmek in the CEE.
