Ibis Romania receives 9 pct more tourists in first 9 months of the year

Ibis Romania hotel chain, part of international group Accor, recorded an occupancy rate of 66 percent in the first nine months of the year and 136,000 overnight stays booked, up 9 percent compared to the same period last year.

Ibis operates four 3-star hotels in Romania: two in Bucharest and one in Constanta and Sibiu.

Out of the total overnight stays sold in Romania, 71.5 percent were booked for buysiness travel while the leisure segment generated 28.5 percent of bookings.

“The leisure segment generates better results compared to the first semester, when leisure tourists represented 23 percent of bookings at Ibis. This growth reflects summertime results, when we have more tourists compared to the rest of the year, especially in Ibis Constanta, which also registered the highest occupancy rate in the country – 79 percent”, said Ioan David, general director Ibis Romania.

Romanian tourists generated 63 percent of bookings at Ibis hotels in the first 3 quarters of the year. Italian, German, French and Greek tourists each represnted 3-10 percent of overnight stays.
