Hoteliers across the country expect 135,000 tourists on Easter

Hoteliers and inn owners prepared for Easter 135,000 tourist places, up 8 percent compared to last year, reports Mediafax. At the same time, the bookings, far below expectations due to the rains in early April, began to revive over the last two days, after the weather got warmer.

Most of the 135,000 tourist places – 75,000 – are in inns, in resorts (30,000), in balneary resorts (15,000) but also at the seaside (2,500) and in other destinations, according to the Romanian Tourism Employers’ Federation (FPTR).

“Because of the bad weather in recent weeks, Romanians were not so eager to buy holiday packages for this weekend. Easter in resorts is generally celebrated by townspeople who do not have relatives in the countryside and who must choose between the Easter holiday and the 1st of May one. We have not reached yet the level from 2008, when we could afford two holidays so close one another before the summer vacations,” told Mediafax Dragos Raducan, FPTR vice-president.

He said the sunshine in the last days gives grounds for optimism to hoteliers and inn owners.

Marinela Stoian, the founder of the National Association of Rural Ecological and Cultural Tourism, showed that bookings have started to intensify in the last minute. She added that the most requested inns are those in Bucovina, Neamt, Northern Oltenia and Sibiu.
