Holocaust commemorated at the National Peasant Museum

One World Romania organizes several events in celebration of Holocaust, with a focus on film screening, entitled “Focus: Holocaust. Against Forgetfulness and Denial”, followed by debates and workshops for high-school teachers and students. Odessa, directed by Florin Iepan, Turner Film Diaries, directed by James T Hong, Purity Beats Everything, directed by Jon Bank Carlsen, Hidden Sorrows: The Persecution of Romanian Gypsies During WWII, directed by Michelle Kelso, and Charging the Rhino, directed by Simcha Jacobovic are part of the film projection.

For the second time this year there will be a marathon screening of Claude Lanzmann’s ‘Shoah,’ which is still regarded as the most important film ever made on the Holocaust. The 550-minute screening, which is divided into 4 parts, is scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Horia Bernea Studio, starting on 19.00.

The exhibition titled ‘Interrupted Destinies. 70 Years since the Pogrom in Iasi,’ was also opened. It is presented in Bucharest for the first time, and brings to light the disquieting account of the events of June 1941. On Saturday, October 19, representative of the Amsterdam-based Anne Frank House Tali Padan will give an educational workshop for high-school students. The event will take place until October 19.
