Romania’s Hidroelectrica, the state-owned hydroelectricity producer, has successfully tendered 14 small hydropower plants, in a bid to streamline its operations.
The company raised EUR 10.6 million from selling the plants, which have a combined installed capacity of 9.4 MW.
Italian BASIKDUE snapped four plants, while Romania-based Mineral Oil and THREE PHARM acquired three and seven plants, respectively.
“Hidroelectrica aims to fasten the privatization of the small hydropower plants that it still owns, so that all the remaining units will be sold by year end,” said the company in a statement.
Hidroelectrica will organize a new tender in September.
The small hydro plants, below 10MW, receive three green certificates under Romania’s renewable support scheme. The issue of one certificate has been delayed for new plants through to March 2017, which should be recovered starting the next month.
