Happy Tour Group’s revenues reach EUR 60 mln in 2013 on increased leisure sales

Happy Tour Group, the leader of Romania’s travel market, according to its data, reported total revenues worth EUR 60 million in 2013, announced company representatives today.

“2013 was a year of investments in technology and online marketing, and of new approaches to our activities. The results of the last year’s changes and partly of those undertaken this year will show in the 2014 results”, said Javier Garcia del Valle, the CEO of Happy Tour Group.

In 2013, the most significant increases were reported by the leisure segment, which was up by 12 percent on average, according to the company. New destinations were introduced such as Madeira, Bodrum and Chania in Crete. The city break segment was up by 8 percent the most popular destinations being Prague, Paris, Barcelona, London and Madrid.

More and more Romanians choose to travel by charter during the summer time, according to the company. In 2013 the company reported 14 charter flights to Greece, Turkey, Spain and Cyprus and this year more flights will be available for Bodrum and Chania.

The company’s air ticket sales were up last year and the trend is expected to continue in 2014 as well. Low cost sales were up by 10 percent.Barcelona, Milano and Rome were the most popular destinations. Tickets for international flights accounted for 85 percent of total sales while the share between leisure and corporate sales was 45 percent -55 percent.

Happy Tour Group is the largest travel group in Romania according to its data. The group’s companies are Happy Tour (travel agency network), Paravion (online air ticket booking platform), Travel House (travel agency) and Prestige Tours (tour operator). Happy Tour Group has a network of bout 90 Happy Tour affiliated agencies countrywide and approximately 150 employees.
