Almost half of the Romanians will spend the same amount of money as in previous years to get ready for Easter, shows a study conducted by the Romanian Institute for Assesment and Strategy (IRES) according to which almost a quarter of the respondents said they will spend between RON 501 (EUR 113.5) and RON 1,000 (EUR 226.7).

The study conducted by IRES between April 4 to 6 and quoted by Mediafax shows that nearly half of the respondents believe that for the preparation of Easter they will spend the same amount as in previous years, 4 out of 10 respondents saying that the amount allocated for this year is between RON 100 (EUR 22.6) and RON 500 (EUR 113.5), and almost a quarter of the respondents saying they will spend between RON 501 (EUR 113.5) and RON 1,000 (EUR 226.7).

Also, 11 percent of the participants in this study, 4 percent more than in 2013, argue that the family budget for this year is between RON 1,001 (EUR 226.7) and RON 1,500 (EUR 340).

According to IRES, if in previous years the crisis was indicated as one of the factors affecting the budget for the Easter holidays, this year only 38 percent believe so, while 58 percent of the respondents don’t quite believe in the impact of the crisis.

The study concludes that, generally speaking, the population’s mood before the holidays is one of “relative optimism”, the dissatisfaction with the way things go in Romania is “much lower” than in previous years in this period. Half of the respondents believe the direction towards which the country is heading is wrong, while 40 percent think that the direction is good.

The study involved 1,006 people aged over 18 years old.
