French Barbara Cygler, 41, has been appointed as the new general manager of drugs maker GlaxoSmithKline Romania starting April 2014, replacing Pascal Prigent, who becomes vice-president, vaccines commercial strategy at GSK US Pharmaceuticals.
Cygler has been working the pharmaceuticals sector for 15 years, spending the last two at GSK Romania as business unit director for the retail division and specialty care business unit director, subsequently.
“I am already familiar with the main issues facing the Romanian health sector and I aim to continue GSK’s efforts in increasing the access of patients to innovative treatment,” said Cygler in a statement. She added the company will continue its CSR program and to work with authorities in reforming the health system
The new manager has graduated from the Ecole Superieure de Gestion and holds a master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Marketing.
GSK’s local portfolio comprises prescription based drugs, vaccines and care products for general use.
The company’s sales rose 4.7 percent to RON 552.6 million (EUR 125 million) last year, according to Cegedim, a data provider for the pharmaceuticals sector.
