The Government will adopt on Wednesday an emergency ordinance to return 4 euro cents from the new 7 euro cents fuel excise to transporters. Prime-minister Victor Ponta asked the Ministry of Finances together with ANAF to elaborate a transparent procedure in order to achieve this.

“Today we will adopt the project that return four euro cents to the transporters that acquire diesel fuel legally. I will ask you to be careful to develop a transparent procedure with ANAF so we can be sure that what we adopt today can be applied and we will help Romanian transporters to remain competitive”, VIctor Ponta declared at the start of the Governmental meeting.

The PM dded that the Ministry of Agriculture already took measures to make sure that farmers will not be affected by the higher cost of diesel fuel.

According to the ordinance, the government will return 4 euro cents from the 7 euro cents excise introduced on April 1. The money will be granted every quarter if the transporters supply payment bills for the fuel acquired, Ponta explained previously.

Initially, the supplementary excise on fuel was estimated to generate an extra RON 2.5 billion for the budget. The exception, if applied, will generate a RON 353 million hole in the budget for this year.
