Google and the Romanian Ministry of Education sign agreement to train teachers to use Google Apps

Google and the Ministry of Education signed last week and agreement which will see 40,000 teachers, representing 10 percent of the national staff of teachers, receive training over the next two years to be able to use the free suite of Google apps, according to Hotnews.ro.

This will allow teachers to make their classes more dynamic and interactive. Schools and universities have free access to Google Apps.

According to Remus Pricopie, minister of Education, approximately 2,500 schools connect to high-speed broadband internet using European funds.

The program is developed by Google in collaboration with the Junior Achievement NGO.

The main goal is to form a nucleus of teaching staff (Google Educators Group) who will push forward the adoption of digital technologies in teaching.

Three new pilot projects which will introduce new technologies in education in three schools in Romania.
