The gas exports of oil company Gazprom to Romania were on Monday 9.2 percent lower compared to the planned quantities, although the Russian giant had announced it would reduce imports by 10.6 percent, reports Agerpres newswire, which quotes representatives of Romania’s department of energy.
On Sunday the deliveries from Gazprom were cut by 9.2 percent, while on Friday they fell by 13.2 percent, although the Russian oil major had announced it would import 30.7 percent less that day.
The department of energy said that at present Gazprom was exporting 0.14 million cbm of gas daily, which would cover the consumption of cities like Botosani or Satu Mare or the current consumption of CET Timisoara, which provides heating services for the city in western Romania.
Romania’s current gas consumption amounted to 25.5 million cbm daily, while the production amounts to 31 million cbm
Razvan Nicolescu, the delegate minister of energy, said recently that the country already has 2.8 billion cbm in storage, with around 1 billion cbm above the requirements of energy regulator ANRE.
Gazprom has been reducing the amounts of gas it exported to Romania arbitrarily over the past few weeks without mentioning any clear reasons.
