The first Henri Matisse exhibition in Romania is open to visitors between 10 am and 7 pm by June 7 at the Bucharest Noblesse Palace, reports Agerpres.
Thus, “Graphic art masterpieces. Henri Matisse” consists of 83 lithography works which were brought to the country through the Noblesse Cultural Association.
Some of the works on display were presented in various major museums of the world. The lithographs date from the period 1945-1950.
“Through this exhibition we are witnessing a show that takes us along the route pursued by the artist in his quest for happiness and creativity. The exhibition aims to present the resolute side of the artist who, despite the hardships he was facing — as he was compelled to move from Nice because of the Second World War, but who was also suffering from cancer – let his creativity flourish, continuing to impress to this day,” said Adela Mara, the cultural director of the Noblesse Cultural Association.
The exhibition can be visited by a telephone appointment and the ticket price is RON 45 (EUR 10).
