The Ministry of Finance warns people who received an e-mail to pay an annual fee of RON 278 (EUR 63) for using internet services not to make any payments, since no such notification was sent. According to Mediafax, the Ministry suspects a fraud attempt.

The Ministry of Finance and the National Agency for Fiscal Administration have not sent any message regarding a fee for using the Internet, stating that tax authorities cannot request the payment of taxes through various payment systems such as Bitcoin. Also, no fee can be automatically deleted from the database.

“As on this fact there is a fraud attempt suspicion, we can assure you that we will take all the necessary measures in order to identify the responsible persons,” reads the press release.
