EUROPAfest 2013 kicks off tonight with gala Europe Day concert

The 20th run of live music festival EUROPAfest gets underway tonight with a gala concert at the Odeon Theatre in Bucharest. The next 17 days will bring a series of concerts in both conventional and unconventional venues, jam sessions, jazz workshops and master classes. The main venues will be the Odeon Theatre, Club Lost, Ibis Nord, the European Public Space and the Lutheran Church.

EUROPAfest incorporates two contests: the seventh Bucharest International Jazz Competition, ranked among the top three jazz contests in Europe, and Jeunesses International Music Competition.

Overall, the event will host over 300 performers from 52 countries across four continents – Albania, Argentina, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Iran, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland,  Portugal,  the Republic of Moldova, Romania, Russia, Scotland, Serbia, Singapore, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, the UK, Ukraine, Uruguay, the USA and Vietnam. Since 2005 EUROPAfest has taken place under the High Patronage of Their Royal Highnesses Princess Margarita and Price Radu.
