The second edition of the Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) held at the Palace of Parliament, in Bucharest, gathered rallies governmental representatives from the 14 Danubian states, alongside European officials (European Commission, Committee of the Regions), representatives of the Danubian regions and cities, of the academia, the business environment and civil society.

The European Commissioner for Regional Policy, Johannes Hahn, attended the opening session of the EUSDR Forum. Moreover, the European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Dacian Ciolos, will take part in the works of the Forum, including the closing session.

Held under the heading “Danube Region – stronger together, stronger in the world”, the Forum pursues to mirror the way the Strategy helps the states of the Danube region cope with the common challenges of the present (“stronger together”) and how it helps reinvigorate the economy (“stronger in the world”).

The themes to be debated in the plenary sessions relate to: the role of the Danube Strategy in respect of economic growth and job creation, balancing economic development with ecology and environmental risk management, financing EUSDR projects in the future European financial framework 2014-2020.

Thematic parallel sessions will be structured according to the four pillars of the Danube Strategy, i.e. connectivity, protecting the environment, development based on the new technologies and benefiting all inhabitants, a region that is as attractive as it is efficient and safe.
