EC drops infringement against Romania over liberalization of energy market

The European Commission (EC), the executive arm of the EU, has stopped the infringement procedure against Romania after the country transposed EU directives of the Third Energy Package.

The EC had started the procedure in September 2011 because Romania had failed to implement properly and on time EU legislation on the internal electricity and gas markets.

Razvan Nicolescu, the delegate minister of energy, said in a statement that the EC submitted to the EU Court of Justice documents that proved Romania transposed the directives.
