The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will assist Romania in drawing up its national energy strategy, announced the department of energy on Tuesday.
Razvan Nicolescu (in picture), the delegate minister of energy, has met today with a delegation headed by Riccardo Puliti, general manager for energy and natural resources at EBRD. The meeting, which focused on the energy sector, was also attended by James Hyslop, EBRD’s director for Romania.
“The two parties have also discussed about the government’s policy in the renewable sector and of Romania’s interconnection projects on natural gas and electricity,” said the department in a statement. The international lender was also interested about the government’s progress in listing state-owned energy players Electrica and Oltenia Energy Holding.
The department of energy said the EBRD supports Nicolescu’s plan regarding the development of a north-south gas corridor.
