Direct investments of Romanians abroad exceed EUR 1 bln

The direct investments made by residents abroad reached EUR 1, 09 billion last year, out of which EUR 432 million were participating interests, according to the National Bank of Romania (NBR).

Portfolio investments in debt securities stood at EUR 1.4 billion, while in equity securities it reached EUR 934 billion. The money market instruments attracted EUR 31 million, while investments in financial derivatives totaled EUR 0.5 million.

Long-term loans and credits of residents totaled EUR 2.3 billion, while the short term ones reached EUR 5.2billion. Cash investments and deposits amounted to EUR 4.2 billion.
