DevHacks is a hackathon destined for those who want to change the local environment through smart and original solutions. The event will take place on 21 – 22 November at The National Library in Bucharest. For 24 hours, 400 IT professionals and software developers will try to create applications in one of the following fields: Health & Fitness, Education and Smart City.
The exact theme and direction in which the competition will develop remains to be decided in the morning of the event. 78 teams will be selected and the participants will be guided by IT specialists from top companies. In the end, a jury consisting of mentors and company representatives will choose a winning team. The big prize is EUR 2,500, but the companies will provide all teams with various other prizes and support in implementing the solutions they found during the competition.
The purpose of DevHacks is to create a place where ideas become reality. The competition is a meeting point for companies and IT professionals and developers in order to create applications and innovative methods that will improve different social areas.
The profile of the participant
DevHacks puts in contact teams consisting of IT specialists and students or young people with programming skills and knowledge of one of the following programming languages: HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Java, C/C++/C#, Python, Ruby, iOS, Android and others. This competition is dedicated to those who are interested in an interactive contest, as well as to those who are looking for an IT job and to those who want to be part of a challenge that can bring them a substantial prize. After all, this event is made for anyone who wants a new challenge, while participants need to show both teamwork as well as working under pressure (24 hours of continuous programming).
Registration of teams and individuals
Those who want to be part of this event have to register either as a single participant or as a team until November 9 on hipo.ro. The selected participants will be in one of the 78 teams that will enter the competition. The results of this selection will be announced on November 14.
Mentors and companies present at the event
Companies present through mentors and jury members at the event will be Accenture, IBM, PayU and Teamnet. An important supporter of this event is Brainspotting, a top IT recruitment company. These companies will offer those who will take part in this event the best working conditions, important advice through mentors and evaluators and also various prizes.
