Desigual expands outside Bucharest, opens store in Iulius Mall Timisoara

The Iulius group, owner of Iulius Mall Timisoara, announced it will host the first Desigual store outside of Bucharest. This will be the fashion retailer’s fourth store in Romania.

The opening is set for the first half of March 2016 and the store located in Iulius Mall will span an area of 120 sqm.

Set up in 1984, the Desigual brand is a fashion retailer having over 600 stores and 11,000 other multi-brand locations worldwide. The daring tailoring, vibrant colors, bold combinations of materials, embroideries and hand-made drawings are inspired by the pop culture, as well as by the tradition of Spanish artisans and street arts and are the hallmark of Desigual products.

The clients of the shopping mall will also have immediate access to several other international brands once the Openville mixed use urban ensemble is developed in the immediate vicinity. Thus, by the end of 2017, the area will bring together office, retail, park, and entertainment functions. The investment amounting to over EUR 220 million is the largest private capital infusion in the real estate market in the west of Romania. Openville will comprise 131,000 sqm of class A office spaces, over 450 stores, restaurants and themed cafes, 15 multiplex movie theater halls, a fresh market area, event halls, a suspended park, skating rink and an outdoor carrousel for children.

Construction works were started last autumn and the first development stage is scheduled to be completed during the last quarter of 2017 (80,000 sqm of class A office spaces, 134,000 sqm of retail spaces and a park spanning 55,000 sqm).
