Dacia car registrations in UK up 7.7 pct

Dacia new car registrations in UK rose by 7.7 percent in the first five months of the year, to 11,895 units over the 5.68 percent market advance, to 1,119,072 vehicles, according to data released on Thursday by the British Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.

Dacia share on the UK market increased to 1.06 percent in the first five months, from 1.02 percent at the end of April and 1.04 percent a year ago.

Dacia sales decreased by 8.86 percent in May, to 2,046 cars, giving the brand a 1.03 percent market share.

In the first five months, the largest increase in sales in the UK was registered by Jeep, by 247.6 percent, to 4,436 cars, followed by Infiniti, by 179 percent to 505 units and Mitsubishi by 133 percent to 11.048 units.

In April, registrations on the UK market rose by 2.4 percent to 198,706 vehicles, registering a positive trend for the 39th consecutive month.

The company’s largest markets are France and Germany. Dacia car registrations in France fell by 9.9 percent in the first five months of this year to 42,549 units, while in Germany they dropped by 6.7 percent in the same period to 19,246 units.
