Romania’s current account balance posted a deficit of EUR 768 million in January-July 2014, compared to a surplus of EUR 92 million in the same period of the previous year.
The current account deficit is down from EUR 878 million, posted after the first six months of the year.
Between January and July, the income deficit grew from EUR 958 billion to EUR 1.99 billion, and the trade balance grew from EUR 2.9 billion to EUR 3.15 billion, according to a press release from the central bank.
The secondary income excess (current transfers) cut back EUR 308 million, from EUR 1.17 billion to EUR 865 million.
Direct investments of non-residents totaled EUR 1.309 billion, down 13.8 percent year on year.
